Headlights won't work after blown fuse 120-130 1967

Since my transmission is horrible, I decided I wouldn't need to fix the headlights right now, but going out last night in the car with only the two lower lights really changed my mind.
So over the summer, a fuse went out in my wagon. Recently, a month ago, I replaced all fuses, with the correct amps.
I don't know why the headlights wont work.
When I first bought the car, a year and a half ago, my mechanic who went over the car when I got it, "fixed" the hi/low beam connection, but after that, the headlights would only work on low beam, and not high. But now, after the fuse went out, they don't work at all. Everything else works, horn, dome light, instrument panel lights, etc.

Shannon's recommendation (thanks!) was a general recommendation...whether blinkers or headlights (as in the article), they all work the same: Switch applies power from source by way of harness to lamps, and current is returned by way of vehicle (metal) chassis to negative of battery. All loads employ some variation of this. Refer to wiring diagram (http://www.sw-em.com/122S%20Wiring%20Diagram.jpg) for specifics of source circuit, possible fuse, wire color codes, connectors, etc.

More specifically:
Being considered "mission critical", headlights (like IGN) are not fused, so NO amount of work on fuses will have ANY affect to bring lights back. Instrument lighting (only) is fused by Fuse 3, and often intermittent or nonfunctional because of scratchy dimmer control (turning Lightswitch knob). If your instrument lighting works when you pull out Lightswitch, great, so you now know you are getting power to the switch...if neither lo or hibeams work then, check for power into, and out of, the hi/lobeam switch on floor (yellow wire in, Red - hibeam, Gray - lobeam out), then move onto six terminal connector in engine compartment (Item 7), and finally on to the connectors in the headlight buckets.

Well, first thing is be sure your dash switch is working. I experienced a short that blew out my indicator lights and the rheostat. I had to move a couple spades around to restore light function. If your clearance lights function it is probably not the switch.

When the floor dipper died in the 68 sedan I lost my headlights entirely.
This seems to be the normal failure mode. You can also lose them when you dip from high to low and then they never come back on. It gets very unpredictable.

When I lost my switch, I still had running/clearance lights and (fortunately) spotlights on the yankee bar with a separate switch and circuit so I used those to get to work and back in the dark of winter.

I chose the opportunity to "restore" the dipper control to the turn signal stalk.
It is a simple upgrade (with the instructions)

The only catch is that you need a proper relay - which can be pricey if you don't have a spare handy.

Could the bulbs be toast from the fuse blowing? 120-130 1967

I don't think it's my high/low beam switch because when I click it, the blue light on the speedo comes on.

Do you think the bulbs could have blown when the fuse blew?

Nah, but check your right-side fusebox wires. 120-130 1967

I think Eric and Ron have answered, but I highly doubt you blew both your headlights.

I've had clearance light (and possibly headlights - I don't recall precisely) function screwed up when I've hooked up the #1 and #2 right side fusebox wires incorrectly. I did this when I was tinkering and it took me a bit to figure out. I recall that the clearance lights were stuck on and I think the headlights didn't work at all.

The headlights are not fused but I think the headlight wiring runs up up to the right side of the box (I could be wrong, check an online wiring diagram).

This would seem like a likely place to check.

Hello,

The headlight circuit of your 122 does NOT have a fuse. The running lights are fused, but the headlights are not fused unless someone added a high amperage fuse or added a relay.

Try cleaning the contacts at the black plastic harness connecter under the hood along the left front inner fender just before the core support. The contacts are exposed and can build up enough corrosion to interfere with proper electron flow.

Are you still running your high beams through the floor switch?

That might have died. I'd check there.

It may also seem too obvious, but are you sure the bulbs aren't burned out?
