My Heater is crazy 900

Hi, Everyone
I have a 940 turbo, 1993 with 150K miles.
The car idles fine, except when I turn on the heater, then the
idle fluctates from almost stalling to normal. In fact the idle will
get so rough all the service lights turn on,the car just about stalls.
I turn off the heater all is normal. Please help. Maybe I am going crazy,
but I think it actually is the cold freezing my brain.

Could be a vacuum problem. The heater valve near the firewall is opened/closed via a vacuum operated pump, check for leaks. The dash vents that allow/block passage to the vents in the floor or dash are also controlled via vacuum, check this as well, I believe the vacuum pump is beneath the steering wheel; remove the knee bolster.
