145 rear seat 140-160 1974

SO, I have swapped my entire cloth interior on my 145 for a vinyl of the same color--all except for the rear seat back. Does anyone have any experience removing this portion of the seat? I see nothing in the Volvo green-book. I'm ready to have this swap done! Any info would be helpful.

OK, I've done it. Thanks for the help. I didn't realize that the seat pole has a spring mechanism in it. Push in on the seat pole toward the seat on the driver's side while pulling up on the seat. Voila--removed.

It has been eons, and my memory is failing...

With the bottom cushion removed, locate the pins on either side of the rear cushion at the bottom. You should be able to pull the bottom of the cushion forward about 3/4 inch. Then the entire seat cushion gets pushed up. There are 3 retaining clips at the top of the cushion, left, right and center.

Remember, the factory has to design this with installation in mind so they will keep it simple. Taking apart is always harder.

Did it a long time ago and don't remember the particulars. I wasn't concerned with the seat I was removing so I cut the upholstery to expose the workings. Even so, I do remember getting the locking pins pulled back on each side was not easy. Maybe there is a trick to it--but it wasn't obvious to me.
