Windshield Trim Clips 700

Anybody replace the little black windshield trim clips holding the chrome/rubber side and top trim on? Are these press fit into holes in the A-pillar? How are they held in? I need to de-rust the area and I don't want to do more damage in removing them than I have to.

By the way, the trim is easy to remove by pulling it down (for the side trim) or across (the top trim), right across the clips.

    They slide off, but not before dealing with the small "keeper".

    The keeper is the small tab you see in the opening on one side. It measures (approximately)1/16" x 1/8".

    You need to get something behind that and pull up enough for it to clear the pin so it will keep sliding and come off.

    A dental pick might work or perhaps a length of thin monofilment line.

      Tough to see: mine are covered with butyl from the window replacement. I'll take a closer look.

        Once you get the butyl off they will look like this:

        A dental pick worked just fine for getting on the end of that tab to pull it up enough to slide it past the pin.

        Perhaps you have had a windshield replacement as the ones on this parts car have very little contact with the butyl.

            Thanks for your kind words, but I can not imagine there are very many people looking for a pictorial description of a window clip used in an old Volvo.

            Art, we have to get you into the 700 series cars (grin)
