While you're in there, 'upgrade' the latching area - from an old post -
Go to a hardware store and find a small flat or L-bracket with flush-mount screw holes in it... maybe 1/8" thick. Something similar to this -

Grab a couple of appropriate flush-mount bolts and locknuts. Pull your glovebox out and place the bracket on top, between the original latch-hole and front of the glovebox. Mark the holes, drill them out, install the bracket on the inside of the box with the bolts and locknuts, reinstall the glovebox and enjoy many non-random-glovebox-opening miles to come. Total cost? ~$2.00
