Reverse lights not responding 120-130

Thanks to the directions posted I wired the reverse lights relay and I was able to manually ground it and activate the relay, relay clicked, lights worked!, however not as a result of shifting into the reverse position. The problem seems to be on the tranny end (reverse switch?) I cleaned the spade and tab as best I could still nothing. My question is, what now? what do I need to consider or do, in order to have lights that work when I'm backing up.
Luis

The reverse light connections are on the combined inhiitor/reverse switch which is on the side of the gearbox. Easier to get to than the one on the manual box.
Have a look at your spare box. Is the inhibitor working at the moment?

Derek, I check the area of the gearbox and could not spot inhibitor/reverse switch. Looking toward the front of the car using the reverse light switch that connects to the relay as a point of departure, on the right side of the gearbox I see the speedomer cable connection and two drain plugs farther up, Can you ID a landmark for me to move from? My car is a 64 122s with manual transmission. On a side note I have just started working cars and my understanding is limited, so I may be staring at the switch and not recognize it.
      Thank for your input.
      Luis

Sorry Luis, I apologise. I mixed the car up with 67122!
I hope you don't have any problems finding the answer to the problem.

        Hello,

Inhibitor switches are used on cars with automatic transmissions.

    Reverse lights not responding 120-130

    Hello,

It is possible that the contact on the reverse light switch could be damaged.

If you have confirmed that the wire from the transmission is good by grounding it to get the reverse light to come on, then the problem is in the reverse light switch itself.

The switches are still available and are around $10.00, and I have them in stock.
