Selling my Amazon 120-130

I got kicked upstairs and will be working longer hours, so I have to drive the XC to work instead of taking the Sounder :-(

So, now I gotta buy my wife a replacement for her XC that I'm stealing and I gotta sell the Amazon. Details here: http://www.jimphoenix.com/jimphoenix2/pages/Archives/subarchive.html

No idea how much it's worth, certainly not what I spent on paint, seals, glass, engine trinkets and interior, probably over $6 or 7k, but I don't want to look. It's in Seattle area and I'll be listing it on Craig's, but would like to see it go to an Amazon enthusiast. I'm willing to deliver within a day's drive (I drove to San Diego in a day 2 years ago, but Frisco is more reasonable.

It needs springs, the left rear is sagging about a half inch and the muffler is "throaty", but otherwise the engine is fresh, drivetrain is fine and had a good temp gauge, etc. Hellas are connected to the bright switch.

Anyhow, let me know if anyone's interested and any guesses what the current market would be.

Rgds,

Jim

Looks a very tasty car. Well done. Would be nice to see a final set of pics showing the finishing off and the final result.

Hey, Mario, this would look great in Hawaii! Really nice colour for all that sunshine. I'd bet that economically it would make a better deal than trying to bring the current one back from the brink. I know I'd be tempted.
Trouble is, I'm in the UK!

Thanks for putting the extra pics up Jim. I really do hope you can come to a compromise so you can keep it. The term "family heirloom" comes to mind.

I've just told off another Amazon owner for having his fuel filter the wrong way round so I hope you don't mind if I make the same comment here.

Nice car!

LOL! I guess I'll swap the filter end for end and see what happens. I never knew there was a right way round on those things, I'll bet it has a little arrow on it pointing in the correct direction of flow - I'm gonna go take a look. Thanks for the comment.

When you have it fitted the way you have it now, the dirt/rust etc is trapped inside the cone and you can't see it as it blocks the filter. I takes surprisingly little to slow the flow. When the filters the other way, yes there should be an arrow, you can see what the filter catches. If you have a rusty tank the filter will quickly change from yellow to brown and will need changing often.

Yup, there's a little arrow on it! Thanks for the tip, I need all the help I can get somedays. :_)

Hmmmm, but nope. 120-130

Beautiful car, but I really am not the type to pay someone to do work I should have done.

But, it did cross my mind. However $1200 buys a lot of patch panels and welding wire with $ left over. That is the cost to float a car over here IF you are in a port. Add another $1000 if inland. Plus the price of the car.

I'm probably stuck with the current project unless some rust-free, otherwise ratty 122 with a blown engine shows up in a west coast port city. Unlikely.

Beautiful car after that project.
Don't have any idea what it is worth but probably much more that I could justify spending.

Wow and I thought I did work to my 122! after all that love and hard work it has to be hard parting with it. unless I was eating bird feed for dinner I'd keep that baby and cruise it when I could, that is your master piece!

You are the man! what a great job! truly inspiring, may the right person for this car find you.

Yeah, I don't get it. Why not just drive it? You have too much time and $$ into it. Keep it for a weekend car. If you part with it you'll regret it.
....unless you eventually want another project, hehehe.

Yeah, now my wife says SHE wants it and I can have the XC. I dunno what to do, but if she gets it, I'll have to put Sirius in it.

Your wife is smart and has good taste. Installing Sirius? What is that, and hour, and after all that work?

You'll never get what you have into it out, but I'm sure you knew that when you started. Certainly all the documentation would up the selling price. But are the hours even calculated into what you have into it?

Keep it.

Sirius is satellite radio, and I suppose she'll want a parrot and heated seats installed as well. One can get spoiled by the XC 70!

Biggest problem with the Amazon here in Seattle is the winters where a rwd don't work so good on the hills. Our V40 was great, the XC is excellent and the Dodge 4WD dually is marginal. When it snows here, the roads become parking lots unless you have awd or at least fwd, pickups with 4wd not really any good because of weight distribution and you can't beat the Volvo traction control.

I could do an IPD type thing and drop a 122 wagon body on an XC - that would be cool!

I saw the restoration photos. Hat's off to you for your incredible workmanship and attention to detail. I guess I would second the opinion, if you had the space and inclination, you might want to hang onto such a fine example of the marque.

BTW, can you tell me where you sourced the new Volvo windshield? Mine was replaced once upon a time, and is now scratched and in need of eventual replacement. Are new rear windows also available?

You guys are all making me feel guilty for selling. :-(

Anyhow, new windshield $182 plus shipping from NC, from http://vintageimportparts.com/

I bought almost all of the original Volvo stuff from him (Olof).

Rgds,

Jim

Dealer 120-130

You can get a new windshield from the dealer. It was $200.00 a couple years back. Rear... I dunno.
