My wipers are acting strange. They don't work on low or intermittent unless I first turn them on high.

Does anyone know the best place to start. I can get a motor from FCP for a little over 100.00.

I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy a motor.
Maybe the column switch or the interval relay is the fault?
You can get your voltmeter on this stuff to see what's going on.

I'd visit a boneyard and get everything for maybe $30-40.

My steering column yoke is a little loose, and the interval setting will only work intermittently and can be canceled by the turn signal, so a short there may be your problem.

The interval relay is in the main fuse/relay block behind your ashtray
rear row 3rd from left

Get the Volvo wiring greenbook for your car.
It includes fault tracing for each subsystem and component locations.
This stuff isn't in Haynes or Chiltons.
