Fuel Gauge 'Remove This Screw For 80L' 700

I've got the instrument clusters out for my 1988 780 (V6) and my 1988 740 (B230F). Both clusters have four screws that hold the fuel gauge in place and stamped on the circuit board in white the following: "Remove Screw FOR80L", with an arrow pointing to one of the four screws. The 780's fuel gauge has that particular screw missing but the 740 does not. Anybody know the reason for this? I'm totally clueless!

Fuel Gauge 'Remove This Screw For 80L' 700

My 1992 740 wagon has only three screws for the fuel gauge but does indicate by figures to remove a particular screw for the 80 liter tank and leave screw for 60 liter tank. It has the screw in place (60 liter). Thanks for the discussion and info!

It looks like that screw is removed if you have an 80 Liter tank
Looks like a 60 or 80 L tank was standard

What about a wagon ? 700

Just the other day when I had my 1988 740GLE wagon cluster off I noticed this same note on cluster. Screw was in place. I left it in place. However doesn't a wagon have larger(80 Liter) fuel tank ?? Maybe it doesn't. Maybe it just has 60 liter capacity. Thought it would have largest tank. Do you know ? Thanks.

ALL 700 had a 60 liter (15.85) tank. Some sedans in certain markets (Australia was one) could be fitted with an auxilliary tank, of 20 liters, that was mounted in the trunk.
