brief summary of what happened: i made a TAB tool (http://www.brickboard.com/RWD/index.htm?id=1215068&show_all=1). did my bushings. offered up as a loaner. this guy contacted me first. i sent out the TAB tool and the front bushing tools AT MY COST and also agreed to make him one when i get the time. 10 weeks later, won't answer my emails anymore (i sent multiple emails spaced a week apart as well as trying to contact him here on BB).

Excuse my ignorance but I thought TAB was a sugar-free coke drink.
Where/what do you use this tool for? (Great job manufacturing it!)
If I know what it is for maybe I could borrow the new one you make and I'll pay for the shipping back and forth and put something extra in with the return.
Most people are still good people don't loose sight of that.
Thanks,

hello ej,
it's used to push out the rear trailing arm bushings (tab), and yep it was the first diet drink, i think.
here's a blow-up pic courtesy of fcp groton.
http://www.fcpgroton.com/volvo240rearsuspension.htm
and with erling brox's superb page, but in swedish, here is his website
http://home.no.net/ebrox/
and select trailing arm bushing on the right. it helps put things all together.
when you jack up your car, inspect your bushings. for the rear tabs, you can see definite wear if they are pretty old. the tab tool lets you replace these major rear bushings yourself.
go with boge (oem) but some go with urethane. if you go with the urethane, read up on how to do these. a little different from the rubber replacement.

sorry, but i took the liberty of writing him. he said he's willing to return it.
you might want to try to write him now, and we back off a little.
it's best to let these to work it out themselves, but i agree this might have been the only way.
write back for the results.
hope you get your tool back, good job in manf'g it.

he returned my email this time. i'll let you guys know how this ends.
given that he didn't reply to any of my emails prior to this last one, there really wasn't any reason i should expect him to reply if not for your intervention.

Hey, great way to step in and try for a positive resolution. Good going.

Since ALL ISPs offer e-mail service, I tend to mistrust anyone with a yahoo.com
e-mail address. I know a little about Bowie, MD and I can tell you that the folx
there are kinda like the West Virginians when they feel that their personal space
is being infringed upon, so anyone who decides to go after it, BE CAREFUL!
You might come back perforated in so many places you will have leaked plum dry
before you can get help!

Just another perspective on email addresses.
I have a hotmail account that's been my exclusive email address for more than 10 years. When I change ISPs, my email stays the same -- that's extremely important to me. Plus I can easily check it from anywhere in the world from any computer. Both of these features are attainable through other means these days, but even 5 years ago, they were not.
I have RoadRunner which of course provides email with massive amounts of bandwidth and storage... I've never even logged on to it. I don't move large files, and I don't store my emails -- so the added capacity of RR email has no value to me.
As I said, just another perspective. Don't distrust everyone with a web-based email address.

Hey George
It sounds a little bit like Bartlesville, didn't Bowie use to travel through Bartlesville? LOL

No, he was further south - met his end at the Alamo in San Antonio.
That was before Bartlesville was. Oklahoma is a young state and Bartlesville
is only 10 years older.
BTW my family came here from West Virginia in 1917.

Thank you very much for letting us all here know about this. Really is a shame. I have loaned tools, given parts, etc. to fellow brickboarders and never had any trouble. Always have been quite impressed with the sense of comradery here. Guess there is always going to be a lemon in the bunch.

This is a sad story...
To anyone in or near Bowie MD, I'll gladly reimburse you for a six pack of beer and a carton of rotten eggs if you go do the deed.

Folks,
I live within 30 minutes of Bowie, MD.
For some reason I don't think the guy will have the tool sitting at the bottom of his driveway for me to pick up and mail back to weatherman though.
Best Wishes.

i had great trust in him too. that's why i paid the shipping out of my pocket.
i really have no interest in calling him. i can make the tool again. i just don't want to deal with him anymore.

I understand. It's a bad situation. Hard to believe someone here would be so base. Maybe he has some personal stuff going on. I know it's not an excuse. Just thinking of possibilities.

Folks,
I don't know the reason for this person failing to respond. There may be a perfectly legitimate reason he is not responding to emails. But he is already condemned in the court of web opinion.
The guy may be the lowest of the low. Or he may be a saint. I don't know. I do know a reputation can be ruined in short order with nothing more than words. Choose your words wisely.
