Can driving w/o flame trap hoses attached cause damage???? 200

I recently had some oil consumption issues, and checked under the hood today and noticed that the flame trap assembly was cracked and melted and the vacuum hose was disconnected. This is on a 1986 that I converted to the 88-93 flame trap setup for easier access (however I have not checked it for a long time.....). I have ordered another flame trap kit, but in the meantime, will I do any damage driving it like it is??

It is possible to lean the engine out a little too much and cause problems. Having the hoses disconnected leaves a large vacuum being drawn into the engine. I am not sure if the computer can correct the condition by enriching the mixture. I would think twice about driving especially in colder weather.. Beyond that I do not know, I could be wrong it is just an opinion.. Max :>)

Both times I had the vacuum hose disconected from the flame trap, lots of oil blew out the oil cap.
