So what should I pay for a black, fold-out, rear, 3rd seat? 200

Someone near me is selling a complete black, rear, fold-out, 3rd seat. So what is a fair price to pay for one of these? I've got a 1992 240 wagon, do the seats fit all model years?

Thanks,

13

I thought that they were all the same, but I noticed that the earlier instructions were slightly different from the later instructions. I thought that they just improved the instructions, but I guess they may have changed the seat.

As I recall, I paid about $100 for a seat that was already out of a car. It had the seat belts, but the vinyl was trashed and the armrests were badly chewed up. I discovered later that it was missing several dealer-only latches and other parts that the guy had failed to remove from the (long gone) donor car. That put the price up around $220. Then I spent another $120 getting it re-upholstered with blue vinyl that matched the other seats in my car.

By the time I was finished, I was in to it for about $350, but it looks better than a factory job. That sounds like a lot to spend, but I did it the year after I bought the car new, so it was worth it.

I have the later model instructions scanned and sitting out on my web page. They just aren't easily accessible any more. If you need them I can try to figure out how to make them accessible or I can email them to you.

Not absolutely sure, but I believe there are at least two different types---early and late, with the changeover occuring for the 86 model year. The main difference (I think) is in the configuration of the cargo floor, (where and how it is hinged) and they are not readily interchangeable, if at all. There may be additional variations, particularly in things such as the seat belts and how they are mounted.

"Complete" should include two sets of shoulder harness/seat belts and all the mounting hardware necessary for installation.

If it really is complete, I would say $100-200 depending on how badly you want it. Its only worth about $25 without the belts because it is not safe to use without them, and tracking them down separately can be a hassle, as they are specific to that application.
