Ultimate volvo wheels 140-160

So I am thinking of what wheels would look the best on my 73 142 project. I just got some new tires for the virgos on it now but these are only temporary until I can find what I really want. I don't want just any old wheels.
I know some may laugh, but I am considering some different ferrari wheels. The bolt pattern is the same and I know the center bore is likely to be different. I could fix that with centering rings or machining the wheels if neccessary. Also I imagine the offset may not work, but may be corrected with spacers? I think ultimately I would love a set of Lancia Stratos coffin-spoke wheels just barely tucked in the fenders. This seems possible, considering at least the bolt pattern is the same.
My second favorite idea was looking into a set of lightweight revolution wheels. Although I am not sure if they offer a 5x108 pattern.
Or maybe I will just have some 16 inch steelies widened and powdercoated, whadya think? What would your ultimate wheels be?

I like the Superlites (Minilite copy) and the IPD Laguna, also a Minilite knockoff.

I used both the IPD Penta (Vigro copy) and Lagunas on 140 for many years, and like the look of the Lagunas better. I used both in a 14 x 6 wheel which is better looking IMHO than a larger 15-17 wheel on a 140. Better performance, no question. I'm going to get a set of the Superlites for my '73 144 project car, too.

You have what I expect would be pricey taste :-)

It'd be interesting to see how the Lancia or Ferrari wheels would look... what are you thinking? Ferrari 308? Even them aren't going to be cheap (though probably easier to come by than Stratos wheels). I also bet they would be a bit on the wide side. Maybe a lot on the wide side.

My ultimate wheels on a 140 are a set of virgos, but i have seen a set of older alloy rotas or bbs wheels that look pretty nice. i like the look of a lowered 142 with 15" virgos better than any 16" or 17". for me it has to be somewhat period in date with room for error, but don't let that sway you from what you like. It's your car, have fun with it.

yess.. that's nice. I like those but do they still exist? They are ATS right? If you know where I could pick up a set, please let me know. I think that's my new favorite volvo wheel. Any more info on those??

I've seen 4 sets for sale this past year. ATS. Pretty sure they were 15x5.5

Unless they are close to you though expect to pay a few hundred dollars shipping them from whatever part of the world they're in. The ones I saw were in Australia and Sweden.

Keep an eye out on the Swedish ebay site(Tradera). Interesting things pop up there often.

thanks for the info JIH, that may prove to be quite helpful..

..as far as the ferrari wheels, I'm thinking late 70's-early 80's. I think some models had 7" wide fronts and 8" rears which seems like it might work ok.
