Thoughts on an interior lighting modification 120-130 1966

I've had an idea about hooking up the map light to come on with the dome light when the doors are opened.

Has any one done this? Any reasons for not doing this?

Would anyone be interested in a write up on how to do this once I get it done?

Wouldn't it be kind of a pain to have to open the door to read a map?

Well the idea is that the map light switch would still work just the same. I'd still be able to turn the light on and off independent of the dome light and vise versa.

I'm just talking about solely when the doors are opened.

Doesn't your amazon already have a map light by the parcel shelf?
Personally I'd think you'd want the dome light and map light to operate independently to be most useful. I find that driving at night while the dome light is on is a pain, but the parcel shelf light can be used without problem.

Shouldn't be difficult to run a wire up from the door switch, they are very close together. You can splice in one of those delay modules in as well at the same time. I assume you want it to light up the floor that side for your passenger. Done correctly the light will work normally with the door closed. Add a module to the driver's side as well.
