When calling for a quote...
Just tell them you have a '92.
They'll put it in the computer that way.
Explain afterwards that it's really an '86 and that the '92 windshield fits fine.
If you tell them '86 the first time, they put that in the computer and build your quote based on that and I was never able to get rid of that info out of their system.
If you have the time, have them pop the glass on Friday afternoon. You have the weekend to clean up any rust that's discovered and prime it properly (I'd use a Dremel with fiber reinforced grinding wheel). Monday a.m. they can put the new glass on. I've had a brick windshield replaced 2-3 times, they always find rust and say they won't guarantee against leaks. Last one I had done, it leaks. If I had money to throw at it I'd get it replaced. Leak is at the top, it lands on my pants.
