Battery light on ignition off 700 1985

Hi,

This morning I came out and the battery light was on, I put in the key and started up the car no problem. The light went out, but the volt meter was in the red, around 10.5 volts. Car ran fine and seem normal except for the above.
I shut in down and the light stayed on. The alternator is about 4 years old, it was a bosch. I left the car in the garage and took the other to work. Please advise. The car is a 740 turbo, 1985. thanks in advance.
