Clutch Alignment Tool 200

For once, I've discovered the "hard to find locally item that was never ordered" before the weekend. The item this time is the clutch alignment tool. My plan is to turn down a piece of aluminum or nylon (or whatever soft material is kicking around the toolroom) so that one end fits snugly in the clutch disc spline and the middle section fits a little loose between the fingers on the pressure plate. Does that sound right? Or is there something other than the fingers that the clutch should be located off of?

Thanks.

You just have to center the disc inside the plate. If you lightly bolt down the plate, the disc can be moved and aligned yet remain in place when let go.

A 10mm deep socket on an extension may be suitable as an alignment tool.

The 10mm socket is a good idea if things get too busy this afternoon to do a "government job." Thanks.

I also kept it simple and turned a wood dowel on a lathe. Well, I guess simple if you have a lathe.

In addition to the spring fingers and clutch disk, I made sure it fit into the pilot bearing too.

Fitting the pilot bearing would be a good thing...luckily the new one is sitting in the car. Thanks for the suggestion.
