SRS light illumination 700 1990

My 1990 740 brick W/ 200K has a SRS light that stays on constantly. On initial start-up, the Service Engine light comes on then goes off after about a minute.
Engine idles and run's great, no hesitation or miss at all. Purrs like a kitten.

Any ideas in trouble-shooting would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Vinnie

You should go to the 700/900 FAQ section for troubleshooting the SRS light.

The other light is a mileage based service indicator for oil changes. Look at the lower left corner of the speedo, just outboard of the dial. There is a black rubber plug that you can pull out that covers the reset button. Using a ball-point pen (with tip retracted) or a medium philips screwdriver, push the fully until it clicks (not counting the break-away snap). Reinstall the rubber plug. The amber light will be off until you drive another 8,000kms/5,000 miles.
