Is there a way to lubricate the rear window wiper spindle on wagon? 700 1992

I had my tailgate apart last night and I wondered if there was a way to lubricate the spindle the wiper rotates on. I lubed every moving mechanical part on the assembly, but wondered if the spindle could be lubed from the outside (without taking it apart again)?

Is there a way to lubricate the rear window wiper spindle on wagon? ANSWERED! 700 1992

I figured it out, IN ORDER: the nut comes off, wiper blade comes off, large rubber grommet cover comes off, black plastic collar surrounding spindle slips off, there is a snap clip that comes off **CAREFUL DON'T DROP IT**, a washer that comes off, a tiny black O ring that comes out and VIOLA, the assembly slides in and out freely for lubrication. Re-Assemble in reverse order.

Can you accomplish all this without touching the tailgate panel or wiper motor assembly?

I did all this without getting into the interior tailgate panel. All was accomplished from the outside.
