poor mileage 700

I've been trying for a while to get my meager 19 highway mpg (15-16 city mpg) closer to normal but without any luck. I've already read through the FAQs but nothing seems to apply. I have no power problems, no electrical problems, no AMM problems and no vacuum leaks. Just crappy mileage.

Other than the mileage issue she runs fine.

Thanks for any advice!

PS- Three details:

- its a 760T

- I ran my car for about 1-4K miles with the wrong AMM (Long story). During this time, the car ran very rich and belched black smoke that would make diesel exhaust look clean. By the time I realized I had the wrong AMM, I had replaced almost the entire fuel delivery system (including pumps, injectors, filters, you name it-i replaced or checked it).

- My car always stalls when cold-starting. From the FAQs, I'm pretty sure its a bad/dirty Idle Air Control, but maybe its linked.

Check for dragging brakes and maybe a leaking fuel pressure regulator. Regulator vacuum line should be dry. Also maybe try a lighter pair of shoes if you're one of the many drivers that race to be the first one to the next stop light. Going easy on the gas, or in this case, air peddle is the best way to improve your mileage. Also try some fuel injector cleaner if it hasn't been used for a while.

Check the resistance of the Coolant Temperature Sensor. I've found one bad, and it effected the fuel economy.

How is the )2 sensor? Did you check the voltage output. They are very important for economy, but they will stand at lot of abuse/neglect.

What year? LH 2.2? LH 2.2 uses the 007 AMM. LH 2.1 uses the 002 AMM. LH 2.4 uses the 016 AMM.

A bad/dirty Idle Air Control unit will effect idle speed, but not mixture and mileage.

Check the induction system for leaks.
