OD Boot Torn 200 1993

Hello All,

Putting new bushings in my transmission linkage and I noticed my OD solenoid rubber boot was torn/ripped. OD works fine. I'd like to keep it that way.

What's my best course to take. I have close to zero experience with the overdrive solenoid so I hope this is an easy fix. It also looks kind of difficult to get your hands up in there to do much of anything.

Thanks for your help in the past and I'm sure your help this time around.

Hey Gents,

Thank you very much. Good idea with the silicone: I should have thought of it. I'll clean the area up next time I'm in the neighborhood getting grimy and try to seal things up.

Thanks again,

Marty

If you live where it gets sloppy, glop it up with a bunch of RTV. Let it sit awhile to harden before driving.

The unit is pretty much non-serviceable, so you don't have to worry about making it more so :)

The majority of the "boots" I have seen on OD solenoids were cracked or missing. Nothing to worry about.

or spray the boot area with some carburator cleaner and wipe it dry with a paper towel, then shoot glue gun glue all over the place.
