if so, whats a good source? are the SKFs from FCP decent? i've read a lot of stories of folks having to swap them out in short order.

what shocks are recommended if i am looking for good quality OEM performance?

    The mode of failure for strut mounts is that the bearings crud up and no longer act as a bearing. Cracked rubber is probably normal deterioration and is not a reason to replace them. I changed mine out around 175K just for upkeep, and found one bearing was absolutely toasted... corroded and dry. Can't say I noticed any difference with the new mounts, but they are working as they should.

    Sachs Advantage or Boge Turbo Gas give about the best bang for the buck on 240's. It's such a nuisance to change struts, my feeling is why put in el cheapo parts? Sorta like painting and wallpapering - it takes just as long to put up bad paint or wallpaper as to put up good stuff.

    Check the mounts for free movement. Of course this requires removal of the upper strut area. But if I were a betting man I would surly bet they are just fine..Besides you can hear them when they go bad. Well some people can anyway. Bumps, creeks and so on..
