Remove injector system 140-160

I bought a 140 on Friday and learned that the recently installed dual carburetor system is in addition to the injectors still being on the engine. Has anyone removed injectors and plugged the holes? Where can plugs be obtained?

Thanks,
David

Be sure the plugs you get are saucer-shaped and not cup-shaped.
Less than $1 apiece. Take off the aluminum injector holders and the
O-rings, bakelite washers, etc and make sure the holes are clean.

Ok, how did you tag you reply with "ANSWER"? Or was this done by the moderator or original poster?

Hi Bill,

The "answer" tag was an available option to click on the response when I read the response.

¡¡Honest!! It wasn't me!
I think this is one of Jarrod's continuing improvements.

As usual, theirs are the right ones but unless you are in Portland it is
usually handier to go to NAPA, O'Reilly's, etc.
The cup-shaped ones won't work at all. The hole isn't deep enough.

Saucer-shaped. I think they're 17mm, not 7/8". I've used them on a bunch of engines and they work fine.

17mm = 0.669" 22mm = 0.866"
I've probably done half a dozen heads with them and used 7/8" (0.875")
and they fit real well. More than about 0.015" smaller and they won't
expand enough to stay in the hole. 22mm might work but I have doubts about
it being tight enough to stay in the hole.

Oops, there goes my CRS (Can't Remember Squat) again... looked it up in their catalog, and the IPD plugs are indeed 7/8".

Yeah, tell me about it.... I can hardly remember when I used to work for a
living! I sure can remember when I dropped the end of a B30 cylinder head
on the end of my ring finger and split it open though! I can also remember the
nice doctor at the Yuma Proving Ground Health Clinic sewing it back shut for me.
Can't even see the place on my finger! (Wish I could sew like that! He used
a little flat needle like an upholstery needle that would just fit around a
wooden pencil. I think the suture was welded to the tail end of the needle.)
OOooops-- There I go blathering again. ¿How many times have I told you that?

Any decent auto parts store (Think NAPA) has 7/8" frost plugs. If you're feeling anal, pop 'em in with some RTV.

Silicone is not suitable for this application as it is not gasoline resistant. I would be inclined to install the plugs dry. As long as they are the right size, they will seal correctly.
