I wonder if anyone knows if these things are available for the car and if they work. I replaced the rear springs on the wagon last year with overload ones but when I put a modest load 100-150kg in the back or tow my light tent trailer it really sags. I had a pickup with a set inside the springs and they really worked well until I picked up a load of sand and trusted the gut at the pit as to what it weighed.

Hello, On my 94, 960, I used a set on Continental air springs and made a spacer to reach the rest of the way. I then added the air compressor and the limit switch, don't forget the little box in the trunk, its a small computer to interpet the load sensor to energize the airpump through a relay. Way better than the Nivos. Replacement bags are 125.00 through goodyear.

I have these - by AirRide - on my '84 245. First set was from ipd in 86 when we bought a tent trailer; wore through and ruptured after 14 years, replaced under (lifetime) warranty.

15psi in them makes the rear susp VERY stiff, levels up nicely with the trailer.

Correction - Air Lift, not AirRide. Company phone is 800-248-0892.

These are (red) poly bladders that fit inside the coil springs.

Here is part number for Monroe air shocks to fit 700 series, I have comptemplated getting a set but haven't as of yet, so I cannot tell you anymore about them.

$65 a pair @ Rockauto. Should be able to get them from anyone selling Monroe shocks.

MONROE Part # MA814 {Max Air Shock Absorbers / Packed in pairs / Includes air line, air fittings, and air fill kit where applicable.}
REAR; Sedan & Wagon; Exc.w/ Nivomat Rear Suspension; For Towing and Hauling

I was going to try them in place of blown Nivomats on my 765, leaving the "soft" springs in place, just to see whether you could get by without changing out the springs. Changed over to overloads springs and standard gas shocks instead.

If you decide to try them, let us know they work out.

Good day, rcs

I have not heard of air shocks or overload springs being available for these cars.

I did read a forum over on Turbobricks where someone did some junkyard research and found that springs from a Toyota Previa van were the correct diameter for the 700. It's possible these springs could be made to work for you, considering that you're towing something regularly and need the higher load capacity.

May be worth looking into if you're into such a project and have a cheap pick-n-pull junkyard nearby.

The things I am thinking of fit inside the springs, don't replace them but I could look at other springs too as they are so easy to replace
