940 Relays 900 1992

I have read dozens of forums and none talk about the relay that i am not sure what it does.
the issue i am having is on a 1992 940Turbo. the headlights/fog lights aren't working, only the parking lights and the high beams.
i've replaced the head light switch, still no fix. the infamous headlight relay with the letter K on it seems to be the relay that works the High beams considering everytime i turn the high beams on the K relay makes a clicking sound.
the relay in question is in the 2nd row of relays from the front fracing the front seat, 2nd relay from the left(right of the fuel injection relay(white)).this orange relay is volvo part number 9130171. the volvo dealer said it works the fog lights and other sources say it's called the main light relay. but why is everyone talking about the relay with the K on it as the headlight relay?

any suggestions or experience with this orange relay? or any ideas as to where i can buy it b/c volvo said it was back ordered.

and why is there no diagram of the relays in either the owners manual or the haynes?

thanks
Christian

    940 Relays 900 1992

I can go back to 1993, not 1992. I don’t think there is a difference though. The second row relay, second from the left, color unknown is the front fog light relay and is not part of the head light circuit. The relay to the right of that is the head light flasher relay for flashing on the hi-beams. The first row, second from the left is the head light K relay.

From a post a week ago where a person had the same problem:
This is where the $35.00 Volvo wiring diagrams book and a $5.00 VOM pays for itself. First double check the low beam filaments on the 9004 lamps or buy a new one to check. Tracing the circuit, I would first give an equal look at the red bulb malfunction relay and the head light relay which should be marked with a K in the front row of relays. After that, the head light switch, the lever switch on the steering column, and the ignition switch.
