torque rod bushing mfr questions 200 1986

i bought the torque rod and panhard bushings for my 86 245. i didn't opt for the poly's.

the bushings are made by 3 mfrs.
front panhard - MTC
rear panhard - boge, oem
torque rod bushings - uro.

any thoughts on uro and MTC as mfr for these bushings?

thanks yall,
byron golden

    MTC bushings and strut mounts reputation isn't very good but then again the panhard ones aren't prone to failure so you might be ok. Uro is the new kid on the block and I haven't heard anything about them yet.

      thanks al,

      forgot one question, the torque rod bushings are like the rear tabs--part rubber, part open space.

      do you know which way the t/r bushings are supposed to fit in? the rubber facing the rod or the space in the bushing facing the rod?
      ----------------

      i bought them from fcp groton, of whom i noticed didn't include scan-tech--they're up to date with customer's sentiments.

      i'll try the uro's out and report back if anything unusual happens.

      hate to be the test monkey, but these rods are easy to get to.

      regards,
      byron

        If you where to draw an imaginery line parrell to the rods it should pass through the rubber. In other words rubber facing front of vehicle and open area down.

        Hi byron;

        The rubber should face the rod.

        Good luck,
        Erling.

          hello erling,
          thanks, makes sense because of the forward-backward motion.

          thanks for your response, just about finished with the rear, did the front about 2 years ago. about time for the tranny mount too.

          i thought about your site, and i checked others, but no mention in their sites and i didn't find anything in the archives. bentley describes it, but i wasn't sure of their frame of reference.

          i heard the weather is like spring time there in europe. hope it's not a problem.

          best regards,
          byron

            Hi byron;
            It's not all that difficult. I removed mine by using a hacksaw "inside" the old bushings to break through the shell, and then collapsed them with a chisel. I put in the new ones with the bench vice and the driver from the TAB tool. It all went a lot easier than anticipated.

            As for the weather ... oh boy. It has been raining constantly for two months, and the temperatures are around 10C. The migrating birds aren't, well, migrating this year. The garden bushes are now getting ready to bloom - in early January. Something is definitely very wrong.

            Best regards,
            Ering.
