The pedal on my recently purchased 95 944T goes down about 1/3rd of the way before I begin to feel the brakes engaging, and the pedal feels somewhat spongy when they do start engaging. Taken together, this results in marginal braking performance. Here is what I have done to date:
1) I first replaced the rotors (probably originals @ 85K miles)and pads (installed PBR Deluxe) at all 4 wheels; noticed no improvement.
2) Next, I installed steel braided brake lines, and bled the lines profusely to eliminate any air; no improvement.
3) Last week I replaced the PBR Deluxe with PBR semi-metallic. Very little if any improvement - same 1/3rd travel and spongy feeling.
So how can I improve this- would epsecially like to get the brakes biting with less pedal travel. Or is this the typical response of 940 brakes? Appreciate any advice.
