Strange Speedometer Behavior - Help Please

Seasons Greetings to All! Noticed that the speedometer starts at 15 mph at idle and works up to 60 but will go no further. I know I was doing well over 60 mph on the Blue Route the other day. Checked archives but still don't know where to begin. Sensor on tranny or the gauge itself? Everything else is working including the trip thingy. Any ideas?
Thanks in Advance, MKLAW

Should I assume that your Volvo has an electric speedo rather than a cable-driven unit?

If electric, something is providing a pulsating current, maybe not by the usual route.

If the trip O/D isn't working, t'would seem to me that the unit in the instrument cluster is somehow at fault.

That's all I have, those things are mostly a mystery to me.

Good Luck,

Bob
