Fuel injector needed? 140-160

With Walrus' help, I have eliminated just about every thing electrical with my D-jet problem of running too rich.
I pulled all 6 injectors and cleaned the surface grunge off of them, in preparation for shipment to CruzinPerformance for deep cleaning. 5 of the injectors are 0280 150 036, as per the manual. One is NOT!!! It is part number 0280 150 024. Is this one of my problems? Darn. I would hate sending in 6 injectors to be cleaned, just to find out that one is bogus. Now I have 2 of those 024 injectors on my bench and I don't have a clue which engine they fit into.
I really don't want to buy a reconditioned one from NAPA. If anyone has one laying around collecting dust, I would be happy to get it cleaned and installed into my car!
Just send me an email and we can work out the mailing costs.

Fuel injector needed? 140-160

Recently Cruzin Performance serviced injectors for my 164. I sent 8; some 036 some 024 and some 015. Their guidance was based on their test results; use the six with most similar flow rates. Worked out fine.

I don't believe that would be the problem. Those injectors while having different bosch numbers do have the same flowrate when operating at the same pressure.

Thanks for the good news, GTG. I wonder which kind of car they belong to?

Without going out to pull my injectors to check numbers, I believe I have the same deal going - three 036s and one 024. I think that the difference is in the way the hose on top is connected: clamp or crimped-on ferrule. The color is a slightly different blue as well. My guess is that both types were used on D-jets, like on different days of the week, which is sort of typical of Volvo ;-) But I'd be happy to stand corrected.

Cruzin Performance just sent me and email with bad news:

I have cleaned and tested your injectors several times and they simply
aren't a closely matched set. There is as much as a 12% difference from
the lowest to the highest flow. Do you have any more of these? I checked
my inventory and I don't have any of either part number in stock to be
used as replacements.

Let me know what you would like to do at this point.
Thanks.
Rich Jensen

I told him to send me 4 good ones and I will go to NAPA and get 2 reconditioned ones.

That's impressive results. I guess I will find out what the numbers mean when Cruzin runs mine through the machine.
All of my injectors close when the engine is turned off, but I suspect 1 or 2 are probably a little bit too slow in closing, along with a very poor spray pattern, so that in reality they never close completely. But, then again, I am a really bad guesser :)
I hope Cruzin can restore all 6 and I don't have to buy a new one at NAPA. Letting the car sit for a few years should build up a lot of varnish and driving it could have flaked some of it off and let it lodge where it is doing the most harm.
I will keep all of you posted!

I may have a few - also Cynthia owes me one or two that can probably be
refurbed.

I picked up one from Cynthia yesterday. Probably one of yours! One injector that I originally had was definately no good. So I have a spare, George. It is a 24. GTG said it right, the connector is different which is why I looked at the Bosh part numbers.
Cruzin said he is 4 days behind, so we will find out next week some time. I hope all 6 of mine are serviceable.

Klaus,
If John Klatt hasn't helped you out yet, I have a set of four 036s that I was saving to have cleaned and tuned and keep as spares, but, most likely, I'll never need them since the set I'm using now got the treatment last year. You'd be welcome to a couple of them for the cost of shipping. If you want me to, I could mail them directly to CruzinPerformance. Let me know off-line.
Bob S.
