The plastic male connector body for the Hall (exhaust camshaft position) sensor on my 1995 960 desintegrated. So I now have (red, light green and black) wires with spades to connect to the female connector with its red, blue/yellow and green/grey wires. Please, does anyone know which sensor wire connects with each female connector wire? On the females connector, the center wire is red with blue/yellow and green/gray wires on either side. I will not get a new sensor here for a few days I already tried, unsuccessfully, to get to the two Torx bolts on the sensor in the car. Thank you for your help.

Hello, I can tell you the wire colors from left to right with the two bumps up, or notches, are;grey, green, red. I hope this helps. Pauli

Regarding the two Torx head bolts on the sensor, a tip that was given to me was to get a ratcheting 1/4 inch box end wrench. (I got a Snap On one which was 1/4 & 5/16; a short flat thing about 3/16 to 1/4 inch thick and about 4-5 inches long.) (The wrench flips over to select tightening or loosening.)
You use this wrench with a short 1/4 inch hex drive Torx bit. You hold the bit in the Torx socket with the end of your finger while you carefully crack the bolt loose with the flat wrench on the 1/4 hex drive. A very handy combo for those tight spots like at the back of the cyl head.
I'm not sure on the Torx size, but it might be a T40; yes it is a T40, I just checked. Make sure you get a short 1/4 hex T 40 bit. The one I use is no more than 1 inch long. It needs to be short to get that lower bolt.
On the connector, you might even be able to order just the connector for that CMP sensor. Ive ordered a number of connector shells from Volvo and they are reasonably cheap. Getting a proper ID on the shell can be troublesome. It seems that on the Vadis system that they use, these connector shells are all grouped together, and you have to look thru the group and visually ID the one(s) you want.

Thank you fellows for your replies. Yes, I could get a connector for that CPM, or any male connector of that type with three prongs, but I need to know which wire color corresponds with each wire color on the female connector. The thre wires from the CMP male connector are red, light green and grey. The wires on the female connector red, blue/yellow and green/gray. As the plastic body of the male connector desintegrated, I am left with the three red, light green and grey wires with spades, but I do not know how to match them to the red, blue/yellow and green/grey wires of the female connector. Any suggestion are welcome.

Okay, on the CMP sensor spade connectors to the spade connectors on the harness, the color code matings for a '94 960 are as follows:
Red -> Red; Signal Lead; Position 2 on Conn; should read 5 V to grnd w/ ignition ON & CMP disconnected
Grn/Gry -> Grn/Red; Ground Lead; Position 1 on Connector
Blue/Blk -> Blue/Blk; Power Lead; Position 3 on Conn; should read batt voltg to grnd w/ ignition ON & CMP disconnected
Now this was out of the manual for a '94 960 with the Motronic 1.8 system. It looks like yours is a little different.
That's all I could find from the wiring diag & Motronic MFI manuals.

Thank you very much!!!! The engine runs OK with red wire from CMP to red wire (position 2, 5V with ignition on) in the female connector, grey wire from CMP to green/gray wire (position 1 ground lead) in the female connector, and green wire from CMP to blue/yellow wire (position 3, power lead) in the female connector, but I get a "check engine" light when I drive the car. I also tried grey wire from CMP to position 3 on the female connector and green wire from CMP to position 1 on the female connector, but the engine does not run as well and "check engine" light still comes on when I drive the car. As per Paulii above, I also tried gray, green red from left to right with the two humps or notches on top, but the engine misfires at idle. I will try to get the CMP sensor out of the car to clean it or replace it with a new one. All suggestions are welcome. Thank you again.

Yes, I too had trouble with one of those Torx screws at the back. Use only the best quality bit, see if you can find a way to lever or wedge the tool into the screw to stop it from riding back and out of the recess. In my case it was the upper screw and I was able to remove with vice grips.

Hello, David. Do you know how each color (red, light green and grey) wire from the CMP sensor corresponds with the wires on the female connector (red, blue/yellow and green/gray)?

Hello, Paulii. Thank very much for your help. Last night I tried grey, green, red from left to right with two bumps up as you say. The engine misfired and stumbled. Can you tell which of the grey, green and red wires is the signal lead that receives 5V to ground, which is the ground lead, and which receives battery voltage to ground, from the female connector on the wiring harness, with ignition on?
