122 battery box replacement 120-130 1967

i have a question about battery box repair. as with all 122 battery
boxes, mine is basically a paper-thin piece of rust that is full of
holes. it seems to me as if the original boxes in these cars are either glued
or welded into place. i'm wondering if anyone has figured out a way to
pop the old battery box out. and if there is a way to do that, is there anyone in the states who makes a replacement battery box that you could likewise glue/weld into place?

cheers,
floyd

If I wanted to replace a battery box in a 122 I’d take a sharp coal chisel and chisel it out by working around the lip that’s on the hood side of it. Then I’d take that box to a sheet metal shop to see if they would make another just like it.
They no doubt could do it. But it would be such a small job for them that they may not want to. Maybe track down a shop and ask them before you start with the extraction.
