Hey Guys,
We just got back from a great road trip. I thought I’d share a few pics with you fine folks since ya’ll have helped so much with maintenance and repair, and generally making her a joy to drive.
We packed up Darkstar on Thursday evening in Denver and headed for the desert. We drove west until I could drive no more. At 4am we pitched a tent in Piute State park in Utah. This is what we found in the morning. Not the prettiest place, but we slept well.
A few hours later, we arrived at the promised land. For only $20 bucks, you too can enter and exit as many times at you like for a week.
Welcome to Zion
This place has some amazing sites. Check out this tunnel, it has windows that look out over the canyons.
Or how about this beautiful piece of geologic splendor:
We obtained backcountry permits from the ranger and without checking the weather report high tailed it to the Kolob arch entrance of the park. We got soaked on our first attempt at packing into Kolob arch.
One thing about hiking in the rain, is that you see waterfalls that only flow for the hearty folks. Wow!
We retreated in to the strip mall treasure that is St. George Utah. We sought shelter at the Best Western, dried out our camping stuff, and made a second go at it on Saturday. The entire trail is a beautiful hike along a small creek. Here is the arch itself:

After this we headed to Goblin valley. Its a neat place. In my opinion its more for the kids, but we’ve wanted to see it for a long time.
Gratuitous pictures of my car:

Is this too high of RPMs to cruise?
After Goblin valley we headed home to Denver.
All in all it was about 1600 miles without a hitch. Well, a small hitch there is a tiny transmission leak, but otherwise she really purred along very well.
Cheers,
Darkstar
