.)The big castellated (ridged) nuts, are SAE, and can be found at any serious parts house, e.g. NAPA. I've usually found them in those orange drawers (DORMAN is the company, if I remember correctly).
.)Investing in the correct size die to clean up damaged axle threads wouldn't be a waste of money. I spent around $25.00 almost 10 years ago, but it's been a good friend many a time since.
.)Try to find some new "keys", the tapered wedges which slide into the slot on the axle. I've seen those wear out, and get sloppy in the groove. Result can be untraceable "clunks ", and maybe worse!
.)Also, use some graphite paste, or other anti-seize compound before you replace the drum. Big Tip; first put the drum on the axle, THEN slide the key into its slot. Remember to re-torque after a few miles.
.)Don't try ro re-use your cotter pins too often.
.)Check the 4 bolts which hold the backing plate to the axle. I've seen those be loose, with strange consequences.
.)I swear by Rust-Blaster, but the main idea is to give any penetrant plenty of time to do its thing (overnight, or better yet, a day or two).
.)Brush your teeth, write your mother, etc., etc.,,!! Good luck
