Fun snow pics 200

Just thought I would share some pics from our recent trip to Donner lake. Yes, despite popular myth otherwise, there is snow in California. Since I have lived my entire driving life in the the Bay Area, my show driving experience is reduce to 3 or 4 trips to the Tahoe area every year. Lets just say I spun out once with no damage to the car or property. Unfortunately the 240 doesn't have the locking differential like the 965 which I usually drive up. Enjoy

7" round headlight conversion alive and well one year later.

Note 140 mirror conversion. The car is an 89

At least if you want, you can easily put chains on the 140's and 240's without tearing up the fender lips - and I mean REAL chains, not the wimpy little cable things.

I took a couple ski trips up to Heavenly Valley when we lived in CA - got a brother that lives right over the hill in Carson City. Any chance that water is chilly?

Nice pics.

It doesn't sound like you do much snow driving so snow tires are probably not an reasonable option but I almost couldn't imagine spinning out with my turbo 245 on studded snows. The other day, I was trying to get crazy with it and see what it felt like when it broke loose. It was unbelievable how predictable it was when the rear end started to wag. If I lifted of the throttle, it came right back into line. I'd have to be seriously asleep (or trying)to make this thing go round and round with these tires on it.

I had trouble keeping my 245(B21A) in a straight line on snow, with the Michelin all-seasons I had on it... downright scary. It's like a totally different car with snow tires though.

Locking/posi dif was an option in 89, might be able to find one to help with traction.

I don't drive in the snow enough to justify the efford. But thanks for the idea.

I'm curious as to why you wanted to go back to the 1 series mirrors? I thought the 2-series mirrors offered better visual? I do like the idea of your headlights though I'm sure they offer better lighting than those darn plastic headlight covers.

Purely esthetic decision. Visibility be damned. Actually its not that bad. The only drawback is the lack of adjustment from inside the car.
