Bilstein shocks for the S90? S90-V90

Hello all,

I'm wondering if anyone knows if there are Bilstein rear shocks available for the
S90 non-nivomat cars?
I'm reading alot about Monroes (which I'm considering), but I'd really like to put on some Bilsteins if they're available.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

There are only 2 companies now making shocks for these cars,Sachs and Monroe.
After having the Monroe on the car now for a few weeks they are by far the best that have ever been on the car. The Sachs shocks are to soft and with the Monroe shocks the car sits nice and level in these Va mountains.
    Hope that helps

Cool, thanks. I was hoping that Bilstein had some available.
I'm going to have the Monroes installed in the rear today.
Have you or anyone tried the front struts from Monroe?

Well, I went to my local Sears here about a mile away.
They have the shocks, but not the "special tool" to work on Volvos.
Has anyone ever hear of that before. It seems suspicious to me..

I don't know if you had them clear this problem up yet, but my local sears store was hesitant to help me, too. Apparently, they had my car confused with a Nivomat one. Basically, you have to go down there knowing what suspension you have, and give them the part number yourself. Tell them to have faith, order the part, and install it.

You might have to go as far as to hold their greasy little hands and tell them that everything will be okay.

We'll see. The shocks are on back order so, I'll be sure to make sure they're not too nervous before they start working on my car.
Has anyone tried out the new Monroe front struts? I'm interested in gettting a report on them.

Not yet. They are a bit more expensive and installation costs are much higher. I think I paid about $80 total for the backs. They quoted me almost $500 for the front and back together.

That is absolute Buull Sh&t-there are no special tools needed to replace the rear shocks on a later model 960 or V-S 90 editions.
They had trouble finding the part # for my car until I gave them the # from what I found here on this Fourm.

I agree. I have changed the rear shocks on our 95 960 and there is no special tool needed. In fact it's fairly easy to change thme out.

I found that Gabriel also makes rear shocks for the S90 with IRS.
Part number is 69417 in their Ultra line FYI.
