Now I've Done It... 120-130

Many steps to replace my manifold gasket...
And here's where I first screwed up.

After removing the airfilters, heatshields and the 4 nuts securing each SU to the intake manifold, I managed to knock the fuel line off the bottom of the SU. It looks like the little plastic tube was just "stuck" into the bottom of the jet. It took a little time, but I was able to get it back in. Seems like it should be secured by something....? #2 Su looks the same. Are they really so fragile?

But that's not the really bad part.
In manupilating the SUs and trying not to accidently bridge the terminals on my battery, I twisted one of the SUs and the Choke cable snaped.
FSCK!! I don't have a spare cable )I don't think I do). There's only an inch or two left at the end. Can I salvage this, or am I really screwed now?

Look up 'lucky' in the dictionary and you might see me. 120-130

In a moment of incredible luck, I discovered a single good-condition double choke cable in my "massive box of spare parts"

Just one, but at least I can get it back together now :)

Anyone have a comment on the lower bowl-to bodr fuel line on SU #1?

The tube is held into the bowl by a rubber collar, you put the collar over the tube, put that into the hole in the bowl, the flare nut gets tightened squeezes the rubber which holds the tube.

      Pete
