That's not exactly what I said. As you may recall, I said that some do have a very slight step, less than 1/8." I also said that many are flat, and that if yours is flat that you shouldn't have any trouble getting the clutch to work, if that's the concern. Regarding dowels, I said that I've seen a number of flywheels in which the dowels had been removed for resurfacing and never replaced.

Good to see that you now have useful information that won't lead you to post the laughing emoji. I'll see myself out.
