Nothing wrong with an M4/AR rifle. they fire the same ammo as a stripped down hunting rifle in semi automatic with 556 or 30 ought 6. It is interesting though that the single fire and bolt action rifles are far more accurate, I'm currently at 250 yards within a 2 inch circle. Can't do that with a carbine barrel... unless you put 30 down range. Hunting sniper mode is wholly different that hunting a deer that winds up with 10 holes.

As far as home defense, well that's the old POS 12 gauge with short barrel. Someone breaks in and the barrel is short enough to not get hung up on walls. Of course, my wife's choice is a 16+1 9mm with laser, so if I miss after 5 rounds, or another comes through a window, she has it covered.

The M4 stays in it's safe for reasons you cannot comprehend.
