What would a car race be like if all of the engines were just constant velocity generators supplying 4 electric motors? Kind of like the Indy turbine cars of old? Super quiet and fuel efficient but still very fast.
Nothing can equal a Ferrari's sound at speed, when you can't see it yet but you know it is coming around the bend. Like the sound of the banshee, MB 501K(?) of old, breaking the night's silence.
A V4 Porsche? Why? It's not like they sell to the masses. The sound of the rear engine while going through twisties is what sells the car. That's why the 928 didn't sell. The 911 and 928 were equally fast, but when running flat out, the 911 brought out the smiles.
When the air cooled H6 was replaced with the water cooled H6, that was a good thing. A more reliable engine, better heat dispersion, and still a low center of gravity. A V4? What is Porsche going to do? Put on a square engine hood?
