This is photo of the criticalk "guide bearing" that is part of the timing belt routing on my 1998 S90 (B6340 engine). This is not the tensioner bearing. With the bearing failed, it destoyed the enging. I have to rebuild the head. I did the rebuild myself. Cost approx. $980. Shop estimate was $4,000. The timing belt never broke. Only 30,000 miles on the belt. With the bad bearing the belt slackened under load, and jumped about a dozen teeth on the cam gears, making the engine mechanically "un-timed", thus destroying the engine. Unlike the 240's (which are non-interferance engines), the S90/960's are not. Lesson's learned. Replace ALL components with a timing belt change (belt, water pump, tensioner, and guide bearing).
