I reused the old clutch plate. Two years ago, I replaced the entire clutch, which is more diffiuclt because you have to get a puller into that tight space, and have three hands.
This time, I only re-shimmed, and used the same clutch plate. The new clutch from two years ago came with 3 shime, each a different size. Fortunately, I had saved them, so I had a good selection when I went to reshim.
I measured my clearance at .042" and assembled the clutch with shims that were about .023" thinner than what I took out, and somehow ended up with clearance of only .009". So I had to take it apart again and reshim for more clearance. Thus my advice to buy extra 5MM bolts. (They are really cheap). But definitely get that tap and clean up the threads each time you remove the 5MM bolts after pulling the clutch plate. I don't think you can get the %mm bolts started in the threads the second time, if you don't clean up the threads.
