1989 760 Shuts Off V70-XC70 1989

I have a 1989 760 Turbo with 280,000 mile on it. I am not the original owner (I have had it about two years). I bought it for $2,400 and have put approx. $3,500 into it. Why would I do that, you ask?

BECAUSE I LOVE THIS CAR!!

She has been shutting off on me when I am backing up, I start her back up and she works fine. But the other day I was 2 minutes from my house and it shut off when I was driving. I tried to turn it over and the engine wouldn't catch. After about 10 seconds of trying to start her it wouldn't do anything, as if the battery were dead. My neighbor helped me push it back in front of the house (about 20 minutes had passed) and I tried it again and she started. I haven't driven it since because I was to afraid but I just tried to start to start it and she cranked right up. Battery was replaced last year and the exhaust was replaced 3 months ago. There have also been a few misc. repairs along the way. Nothing that would have anthing to do with it shutting off I don't believe...

I am so broke right now I can't even pay attention so I am too petrified to take it to the repair shop (I have yet to enter a repair shop and leave without paying up the wazoo). I have about 100 bucks until payday in two weeks. I know that with an old car it could be anything but if someone could please tell me if this problem sounds familiar I would be extemely grateful!

Also, I do not work on cars but I am more than willing to learn. If there is something I can at least check myself to eliminate certain scenarios please let me know!

Thanks! The Artist
