What happens if you take a hill (up or down)? From your description it sounds like maybe some dirt is sloshing around in the fuel tank with the fuel (or the inlet tube is damaged somehow) so you have problems whenever there are large side to side or front to back forces. Maybe combine that with a fuel pump that is not as strong as when it was new? More fuel flow would be needed for a cold start than when warm so here too if the fuel pressure is very marginal you might get what you have.
Have you got a gauge you could use to check the fuel pressure?
