Well,
I'm proud to report that with a little elbow grease, a $3.95 socket, and a lot of help from VICTOR ROCHA, my ABS/Tracs control unit has been replaced and appears to be working just fine.
Many many many thanks to Victor for saving me a little over $500!!!!!!!!!
Pulling the unit and replacing it is NOT THAT DIFFICULT. Anyone who has been under their hood and done minor work can be walked through it. I would definitely recommend buying the E5 torx socket (I found it on-line...no one in town had them) in fear of stripping the heads of the bolts with anything else. Then you've got a nightmare on your hands.
But, all in all, I'm very happy with the way things turned out. Now I can park the damn 8.1 Litre beast (my Avalanche) and putz around in the little 2.3 sipping on fuel for a while. :-)
Victor's service was PROMPT, EFFICIENT, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. I can't say enough about how he responded. I highly recommend anyone on the board working with him if you are considering it.
Woo hoo!
Next project.....Bilstein Touring Shocks & Struts that are on their way from shox.com.......
