2000 V70 SE... spouse went on 10 day trip and parked at the park and fly lot. When she returned, battery was dead. The lot jumped it to get her home. Battery was dead again this morning.
Took it today to the Volvo dealer who says that battery is defective/dead cell (that's ok, was orig batt, now pushing five years). But dealer also says both positive and negative battery cables need replacing because system still won't charge correctly. And they add that "they've seen this before." Apparently the cables have layered sheathing and corrodes/deteriorates from within, which is news to me (I am a basic 240 guy...). The hard part is they want $600 to repair / replace (batt included).
Have an extended warranty; Volvo says battery and cables are not covered.
Any similar stories?
Thanks,
Robert
