I had an earlier post about a faulty power window switch. The switch failed, and I have ordered a new switch.
But... when the broken switch was still installed, I noticed that none of the power windows worked, including the sunroof. Also, I saw that the power mirrors were not working either (this is a big deal, since my wife is significantly shorter than me, and we spend a lot of time moving the mirrors back and forth to different settings).
I see in the manual that the power windows and sunroof work on the same circuit breaker (#37, which is NOT a fuse). The manual implies that if a window binds up, or the switch is stuck, the breaker will trip. It also implies that the breaker will reset itself after 30 seconds of "no current" condition.
So.... I removed the power window switch (replacement part hasn't arrived yet, so I have an open hole in the driver's door panel), and later checked the sunroof and power mirrors. Well, the sunroof works again (indicating that the breaker reset itself), but the mirrors haven't recovered.
What's the deal? One possibility is that the power mirror signal passes through the now-missing window switch, but I can't be sure.
Is there a separate fuse for the power mirrors? I can't find a fuse for them mentioned in my owner's manual.
Thanks in advance.
