I have the same exact problem with my 99XC. After we got it my wife ran out of gas with it and still read 2 gallons on the gage. There seems to be no simple solution. The dealer claims he can adjust this by plugging in to it with his computer. My outside temperature reads 7 degree high, he claims he should be able to fix this also. I haven't spent the money yet to give him the chance but one day I'd like to.
