surging on acceleration S40-V40

My 2000 V40 with misses and surges primarily with hard accelleration but also stutters at idol. First thing I did was change the plugs with no relief. Then replaced the fuel filter and nothing changed. Check engine light has always been on and had a code for the MAF and a misfire code. Changed the MAF without any difference. Reinpected the plugs and am pretty sure witch one is not firing as it is more black than the others. What is my next step? Any help would be appreciated.
