How does one check fluid level for 5-speed automatic transmisson(AW5) ??Uses 'Special' Oil?? S70

Just wanted to know firstly, how one can check the fluid level on a 2000 S70 with 5-speed automatic transmission, as I can't seem to find a dipstick location? Secondly, why does the 5-speed auto(AW5) use a special Volvo gearbox oil, while the 4-speed auto(AW4) uses regular Dexron III/Mercon transmission fluid? Do I need to purchase the special gearbox oil from a dealer for my 5-speed auto, or is there a substitute for it?
