If you hear valve tap noise at idle, it is likely
either a bad hydraulic lifter(s) or low oil pressure.

You could try a higher viscosity oil like 15W-40, 20W-50 or
a straight 30 in the summer.

If it pings under load, the knock sensor circuit is not
working properly. Try replacing the knock sensor. The
computer is suppose to adjust the timing to prevent the knock.
